The Alpe Adria Harmonica Competition is more than just a competition – it is an opportunity. An opportunity to show yourself and your music to an audience, to gain new experiences and to surpass yourself. It’s not just about getting good marks, but above all about being there.

Your participation in the Alpe Adria Harmonica Competition offers you the chance to receive feedback, make new contacts and perform in a professional environment. For example, you will learn how to deal with stage fright, how to prepare and how to get the best out of yourself in a short space of time. These experiences are valuable – not only for your musical development, but also for your personal growth.

At the Alpe Adria Harmonica Competition you will meet like-minded people, discover new perspectives and be part of a community that loves music and the sounds of the Styrian harmonica. Every performance, every feedback and every encounter will help you to find your own path and move forward.

That’s why it’s worth taking part. Not because you absolutely have to come first, but because you develop yourself further, because you dare to do something – and because you end up a little further ahead than before.

Our History

The Alpe Adria Harmonica Competition started in October 2014 in Neumarkt in Styria.

Since 2018, the Alpe Adria Harmonica Competition has been held in beautiful Friesach in Carinthia. It is no coincidence that this competition will also be held there in 2026. “As the oldest town in Carinthia, Friesach is known far beyond its borders (…) and is also a city of culture,” says Friesach Mayor Josef Kronlechner. It is also surrounded by three castles, which contribute to an idyllic panorama.
